Navigant Research Leaderboard Report Recognizes Aclara for Vision and End-to-End Solution Strategy
Utility Field Area Networking Technology Report acknowledges the company’s network and Distribution Automation strategies
ST. LOUIS, April 22, 2019 – Aclara, a leading supplier of smart infrastructure solutions (SIS) to more than 1,000 electric, gas and water utilities around the world, has received high marks for its vision, technology and product portfolio in Navigant Research’s newly released Leaderboard Report: Utility Field Area Networking.
“Aclara gets high marks in vision, technology, and product portfolio thanks to efforts to broaden its product lines and offerings coupled with its strategy for an end-to-end solution for utilities including water, gas, and combination utilities,” said Richelle Elberg, principal research analyst for Navigant Research and author of the report.
The report notes Aclara’s well-rounded approach to networks, as well as its distribution automation (DA) strategy. It highlights the robust capabilities and economical overall cost of ownership of Aclara’s Synergize® RF point-to-multipoint solution for handling both DA and AMI applications. Aclara is also a leader in providing RF solutions to combo utilities that provide a combination of electricity, gas and water to customers.
In addition, the report recognizes Aclara as the market leader for power line communication (PLC) network technology. It cites Aclara’s strong PLC business in rural areas, where the solution allows utilities to cost-effectively reach widely distributed endpoints. It also highlighted Aclara’s recent entry into the market with a hybrid solution combining PLC and RF networks for utilities that operate in both rural and urban geographies.
“This report recognizes the benefits derived from our ongoing investment in technologies that equip customers with the intelligence they need to optimize management of their networks,” said Allan Connolly, president of Aclara and divisional vice president of Hubbell Power Systems. “In addition, the acquisition by Hubbell augments our resources and creates synergies that ensure our ability to deliver the best possible solutions to our customers around the world.”
The Navigant Research Leaderboard Report assesses strategy and execution for 13 grid edge connectivity providers. Evaluation criteria provide a comprehensive look at each company and an objective assessment of each firm’s relative strengths and weaknesses in the global utility FAN market.
